Angkor Thom is another city of temples within Angkor. It is over 10 square km, and contains The Bayon, Phimeanakas, Terrace of the Elephants, The Baphuon, and more minor temples. It was built between 1181-1220 by Jayavarman VII.
The Southgate to Angkor Thom

The Bayon. I think of this place as the 'Face Temple'. There are over 200 faces on the 54 towers of this complex, giving it a cheerful, yet psycho feeling.

Phimeanakas. The climb up the steep stairs brought us to the central santuary, where we had a nice view of the Angkor Thom complex.

Terrace of the Elephants. I was all excited about this place because the name sounded cool. It is over 300m long and has some nice detail on the walls. I always like it when the monks get in the way of my photos.

The Bauphuon. Unfortunately this complex was being restored when we were there, giving us no photo ops, except the small pillars underneath the long walkway to the temple looked cool!
