Kuta

In the end, I loved Kuta Beach. At first I thought it was an annoying place to be because of all the locals that hassle all tourists, but after a while, the place grew on me.

Kuta beach had some amazing waves, and I boogie boarded almost every day.

It was awesome!

Check out the waves:

On the beach, I was a huge tourist attraction. So many younguns from Java would come to Bali just to see the foreigners. I got interviewed by them often, and they always wanted to take pictures with me. Finally I asked for one with some of them.

Kuta beach only gets crowded just as the sun goes down because most asians avoid the sun so that they won't get a suntan (it is considered attractive to have a white face). Here, it is quite crowded.

And there were some nice sunsets here on Bali too.

At night we could treat ourselves at fancy restaurants like this one, because since the bombing these restaurants have had to slash their prices to get people to eat there.

I stayed just around the corner from the bomb site. There was more damage than I imagined, across the street was completely leveled, and many buildings down the block were being restored.
