Niah National Park
I had bad luck at Niah, because a lot of my photos didn't turn out. It was so dense there, that it seemed dark most of the time. The main attraction of this park is the extensive cave system. We hiked to and through the caves (where none of my pictures turned out), and got to see thousands of swiftlets and bats flying in and out of the caves. There were also men way up on the cave ceiling gathering swiftlet nests- nests that are made of bird spit, and are considered a delicacy in China.
Our hostel was very nice, though we had several visitors.
The cockroach

And the cicada. Cicada's make the loudest noises- you have to yell to have a conversation if one is making it's call nearby. They have so many different sounds too- lawnmowers, car alarms, vacuums, and more.

Niah had long, but very easy hiking because they built raised walkways all along the paths. It floods often, which is why they had the raised walkways. They were very slippery though, and on our way back in the dark, Mark finally slipped.

We saw way too many of these millipedes on our hike.

And way too many of these branches for our comfort!

Here's one of the few photos that wasn't too dark to include on this page.

I would just like to add that the caves were big and interesting, even though I haven't included any photos!
