Phuket

I actually went to Phuket at the end of my trip by myself but I decided to include it on my webpage with the rest of Thailand section. I wasn't really into visiting southern Thailand, but I was sick of being in Malaysia, and Taiwan wouldn't let me fly back for another 10 days because I had been in Singapore and they were scared that I might have sars. So southern Thailand seemed my best bet, and I chose Phuket because it's so popular and I wanted to see what the hype was all about.
It was nice, but definitely not as nice as any other beach I had been on on my trip.

This is Patong Beach, where I stayed. It's the most populated beach on Phuket but was not so busy when I was there because tourism is down in Thailand by over 50% due to sars.

Patong is a very seedy area, mostly filled with older foreigners looking for a fling or two while in Thailand.

And here's me, the big nerd, all alone on her birthday in the back of a tuk-tuk!

Phuket has a 'caves temple' called Wat Tham Suwankhuha, which, like other caves temples I've been to, has monkeys, bats, and religious things all inside a cave.

I also went to Phang-nga, which has scenic limestone islands sharply sticking out of the ocean.

And in this area is another tourist attraction, which people like to call 'James Bond Island' because 'The Man with the Golden Gun' was filmed there.

Also in Phang-nga bay is a muslim fishing village, called Ao Phang-nga.

All the houses here are on the water. The only thing on land is the mosque.

This muslim lady is making a crab net. The muslims here are chillin'- none of the ladies on this island dress conservatively like they do in Malaysia.
