Lukang
I've been to Lukang twice, and I'm sure I'll go there many more times in the future. It is a very touristy town for Taiwan (since tourism is almost non-existent here). I only have a couple of pictures from Lukang so far, because all I did when I was there last time was buy a lantern from the famous lantern man. He is famous in Taiwan and has received many awards for his painted lanterns.
This is in front of his store with the many colourful lanterns.
His son does most of the paintings nowadays, and this is him painting my lantern. It was tough getting a lantern since they don't speak english. In fact, the whole thing was a stressful situation and I'm surprised I ended up with a lantern at all. I was happy with my lantern in the end, since it has koi fish and bamboo on it- that was exactly what I wanted (I had to draw out my idea for him).
We popped into a small temple and took two pictures. There are many temples in the town that are famous, but this one was just a regular little temple.
I really liked this stray temple dog.
And I just wanted to show one of the things on offer to the gods that day at the temple- Lipton tea!
